Digital IQ Ranking 20091 500x486 300x291 Digital IQ Ranking 2009: Ranking the digital competence of luxury brands. Fashion 2.0.In the first-ever ‘Digital IQ’ ranking of the top luxury fashion brands’ digital competence, Louis Vuitton has come out on top, followed closely by Ralph Lauren. Both are ranked as ‘genius’ in the wide-ranging qualitative and quantitative study which covers 109 brands across the luxury spectrum, not just fashion. The study was authored by Scott Galloway, Clinical Associate Professor at NYU’s Stern School and Founder of LuxuryLab, a thinktank with a focus on luxury and new media.

“2009 represented a tipping point concerning the importance of digital competence in the luxury industry,” says Galloway. “While the industry grappled with double-digit revenue declines, traffic to luxury brand sites increased an average of 61 percent. With this study, we’ve devised a metric these companies can use to benchmark specific features of their digital competence against their competitors, and highlight which area each firm stands to gain the greatest return on incremental investment in digital.”

Good News from Haiti.

Posted by: Andrey  :  Category: News

  • Hi everyone, thought you would appreciate some good news from Haiti. This is one of the organizations we mentioned in our post last Friday. Your prayers and donations helped!

Please pray for Three Angels Orphanage staff and founders and read:

All 26 of the Three Angels kids arrived safely in FL and will be united with their parents in the next few days! The kids had been totally sheltered from all that is going on. They didn’t see any bodies on the street, and they were completely protected behind the walls of the school. Please pray as they adjust to their lives in the States and all the chaos they have experienced in the last week–not to give them nightmares!

…Tent cities are popping up all over town. You guys probably know more than us about where those tents came from, but all over town we see them. Our neighborhood has mostly standing houses, probably mostly safe to sleep in, but still the soccer field has a tent city. The reports of violence – we don’t get those. Have not seen it. Have not experienced it. Nothing even remotely close. People are helping each other and are warm and kind and humble. Today the man who owns our house stopped by. His name is Dodo. He was sitting outside waiting for us when I walked home mid afternoon. I was so happy to see him alive and I hugged him and asked how his family fared. A true Haitian response he said, “Gras a Dieu” – by the grace of God they were okay. I took him inside to show him how well the house he built came through the earthquake. He was
beaming!

…My favorite part of the day was getting to be the one to deliver the news to a Mom that her child did not need an amputation on her broken leg. We prayed and hugged and rejoiced together. A good moment. Several times a day it hits me that everything has changed. For us, for them, for so many families abroad with lost and missing loved ones here. I don’t know what the future holds. It is a scary feeling at times…The immediate need trumps the big plans.

The official word from Three Angels: All orphanage children are now on US soil!

We are so grateful to an enormous amount of people who have worked around the clock to make this happen. All children have families and will be united with them in the next day or so. It seems being one of the first orphanages to be able to pull out of Haiti we are encountering difficulties at customs until adoptive parents can be there in person to pick their child(ren) up. This is new territory for many agencies.
Please pray for understanding and patience.

The most important need right now is financial and medical. If you are able to donate medical supplies, medicine or your medical expertise. We will also need those who can donate construction materials, supplies and funding. For those wanting to go down and serve we can take your information and let you know about opportunities as they develop. www.threeangelshaiti.org

AVATAR, 3-D films and…James Cameron’s gratitude to Microsoft.

James Cameron’s gratitude to Microsoft.

James Cameron started making films when they were photochemical emulsions. Now, films are digital.

AVATAR 202x300 AVATAR, 3 D films and...James Camerons gratitude to Microsoft.

“The essence of storytelling stays the same,” said Cameron. “Intense CG (computer-generated) scenes with multiple shots doesn’t change that. My greatest horror was the best thing we created would end up like the Ark of the Covenant and be put in a warehouse somewhere. I will make all my films in 3-D. I’ve been banging on the door at Microsoft since I introduced Windows Media 9 with LL Cool J and Bill Gates in 2002. Now I tell them, this is what you guys need to be doing. I’m going to continue to surf that wave.”

Haiti and the Orphan

The situation in Haiti continues to be fluid, specifically surrounding orphans. Before the earthquake there were 50,000 orphans in Haiti. Undoubtedly that number has increased, perhaps doubled or tripled.

I received this note below and then a few minutes ago Fox News announced the US is allowing orphaned Haitian Children into the US and it appears that a number of those children wil lbe coordinated through a charity that my friend Irene started 11 years ago in South Florida which has now evolved into 4Kids of South Florida.

This situation remains fluid. If you know of families who were planning to adopt or interested in learning more, please pass this information along. Here is the original announcement. You can see the latest announcement at www.foxnews.com, but here is some more detail on what has been considered here. If you know of someone who has been in the process of adopting from Haiti and they are wondering how their kids are, they can contact the Department of Homeland Security at hatianadoptions@dhs.gov.

Thanks,
Greg

Haitian Orphans as Refugees to US.
The U.S. government is giving serious consideration (now it is policy according to Fox News Report) to allowing a large number of Haitian orphans to enter the U.S.-essentially as refugees under special humanitarian provisions. Whether these children could enter permanent families through adoption in the short term is unclear. However, it appears likely that the primary entry point for them to the U.S. would be South Florida. Alliance member organization 4KIDS of South Florida (http://www.4kidsofsfl.org/) has been contacted by Florida’s Department of Children & Families (DCF) with questions about 4KIDS’ capacity to aid with both direct care and connections to additional care options nationwide. 4KIDS informed DCF that they stood ready not only with their own network of churches in South Florida, but also to activate a vast network of churches committed to caring for orphans nationwide through the Alliance. If the Federal and state governments decide to move forward with this plan, we’ll be asking you to join this work in every way possible.
