There has been no shortage of fashion documentaries and movies rolling off the assembly line in France and America of late, so it’s no surprise that one about Yves Saint Laurent will be hitting shelves in November. Entitled ‘Yves Saint Laurent Tout Terriblement’ (While Terribly), the document was originally screened in 1994. One of the must-watch footage reportedly dates back to 1968 when Coco Chanel named YSL as her successor at her fashion house because his designs were copies of her. To which he replied: “I think also the big difference between me and Mademoiselle Chanel is that I try to bring women a style that allows them to adapt their style to my dresses and allows them to develop their personalities. While a woman who wears Chanel resembles Mademoiselle Chanel.”
The rest of the footage was filmed during 1994 at YSL’s various houses and goes behind the scenes of the creative process of his Haute Couture collection. The DVD hits select stores on November 4, 2009. Stay tuned for where you can buy it

Calvin Klein Underwear Taps Four New Models
via wwd.com
With salty language, social media, 3-D effects and a vampire, the next campaign from Calvin Klein Underwear is holding nothing back. It’s the brand’s most global and most digital campaign to date and features, for the first time, a racially and nationally diverse quartet of male models instead of just one.
They are:
• American actor Kellan Lutz, who plays vampire Emmett Cullen in the “Twilight” series, and is expected to be more prominent in “Eclipse,” the third installment.
• American actor Mehcad Brooks, who played “Eggs” Benedict Talley on HBO’s “True Blood,” and now stars as an attorney on ABC’s new legal drama, “The Deep End.”
• Spanish tennis star Fernando Verdasco, a top-10 ranked player.
• Japanese soccer star Hidetoshi Nakata, one of the most famous Asian footballers (although retired), who attends runway shows and wears designer clothes, earning him a reputation as the Asian David Beckham.

ZugSTAR Augmented Reality Conferencing
The company Zugara which is an interactive marketing and advertising agency specializing in augmented reality applications, has introduced a new concept of their Fashionista technology using Augmented reality to create an immersive and interactive experience. This time extending it to the possibility of augmented reality conferencing. Zugara calls their new product: ZugSTAR which is short for “Zugara Streaming Augmented Reality”.
AugmentPro interviewed Matt Szymczyk, CEO, Zugara about their Fashionista Augmented Reality application. Now it appears they are using the foundational technology from the Fashionista application to a much broader marketing opportunity than just “social shopping”. According to the blog post from Zugara’s website:
“While integrating ZugSTAR into the Webcam Social Shopper is a natural extension of the tech, it’s certainly not the full extent of our vision.” said Matt Szymczyk, CEO, Zugara. “Gartner predicts that by 2015 200 million people will be paying for desktop video conferencing. Now, I don’t want to sound hyperbolic, but this tech has the potential to impact virtually every single industry. Anywhere distance is a barrier to real-time collaboration, ZugSTAR has the potential to provide a tremendous amount of value.”

Fashion 2.0. Digital IQ Ranking of Fashion Brands’ Digital Competence.
Ranking the digital competence of luxury brands.
In the first-ever ‘Digital IQ’ ranking of the top luxury fashion brands’ digital competence, Louis Vuitton has come out on top, followed closely by Ralph Lauren. Both are ranked as ‘genius’ in the wide-ranging qualitative and quantitative study which covers 109 brands across the luxury spectrum, not just fashion. The study was authored by Scott Galloway, Clinical Associate Professor at NYU’s Stern School and Founder of LuxuryLab, a thinktank with a focus on luxury and new media.
“2009 represented a tipping point concerning the importance of digital competence in the luxury industry,” says Galloway. “While the industry grappled with double-digit revenue declines, traffic to luxury brand sites increased an average of 61 percent. With this study, we’ve devised a metric these companies can use to benchmark specific features of their digital competence against their competitors, and highlight which area each firm stands to gain the greatest return on incremental investment in digital.”
